Mary, at the age of 95, died peacefully in the company of family during a lovely Laurentian Ottawa River sunset on Saturday August 27th.
She was born in Morecambe, Lancashire, England and married to the late Cecil Charles Greenwood. She is survived by her children Peter Greenwood (and Jean), and Jennifer Purkis (and Peter), her grandchildren Julia (and David), John (and Anna), Suzanne (and Jamie) & Steven (and Nika), her great-grandchildren Kieran, Emma, Dylan, Rebecca, Kara, Henry and Cailin. Her ashes were interred at Cassburn Cemetery, Sunday September 4th, 2011, where her loving family had gathered to say a private farewell.
Many thanks to all of the superb staff at the Champlain Nursing Home.

She loved to sing & had a beautiful voice. She had great fashion sense, (Yes even taking into account the silly hats!) and was always smartly dressed. She was interested in everything and loved to read. She loved animals. She had green thumbs – could grow anything. She loved to travel, and loved to keep the family connected. She talked often about family history. She had a great sense of humour. (fortunately because both my father & Pete have a great sense of the ridiculous). |
